Pittsburgh Penguins legend Sidney Crosby hasn’t taken the ice in a competitive setting since his injury in the Olympics with Team Canada. But that’s expected to change on Wednesday night, as the 38 year old seems good to go for their clash with the Carolina Hurricanes. The return is especially timely for the Pens, as they are just seven points behind Carolina in the Metropolitan Division and are also trying to fend off Boston and Detroit in the Wild Card race.
Crosby has played 56 games so far in his 21st season with the Penguins, scoring 27 goals and recording 59 total points in what has been an unexpectedly competitive season for Pittsburgh. This news comes shortly after reports that Crosby might want to stick around the Steel City into his 40s.
“Given how good this team could become in the next few years, there is a belief within the organization that he might stick around for a while,” said Josh Yohe of The Athletic.
“He’s been in a noticeably good mood all season, presumably because the Penguins are winning, which is all he wants.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Crosby’s 652-career goals are 15th-most all-time in NHL history, and he’s one of just 22 players to score more than 600 goals. How many of the NHL’s 600-goal-scorers can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
