The St. Louis Blues are continuing their plan as sellers for this 2025-26 NHL Trade Deadline. As the deadline fast approaches, we have news that defenceman Justin Faulk will be involved in a trade to the Detroit Red Wings. This a good job to move a sought-after defenceman and to acquire assets in return. In return for Faulk, the Blues acquired a first-round pick, a third-round pick and defenceman Justin Holl from the Red Wings.

The St. Louis Blues Trade Justin Faulk On the Deadline

Faulk is nearly 34 years old and was having a solid season for a struggling Blues team. Furthermore, in 61 games, he had 11 goals, 21 assists, and 32 points for a Blues side that has turned into sellers this deadline season. Even as a veteran, Faulk is still playing 22:30 of ice time a night in St. Louis. He will be a great addition for a club looking to make a deep run in the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Through his NHL playoff career, he has made five appearances. His numbers are solid, and why a team would want him added to their depth charts for the postseason. Moreover, in 45 career playoff games, he has four goals, 16 assists, and averages 24:12 of ice time. He can play in both ends of the rink, too. All-in-all, a solid addition for a team that already has solid defencemen, you know, being a playoff-calibre roster.

What Does this Mean in St. Lou

There was some uncertainty in St. Louis and for general manager Doug Armstrong about how their trade deadline would play out. After Colton Parayko stymied a trade to Buffalo, it kind of put a wrinkle into Armstrong’s plans. Now that this deal for Faulk is done, he can look to focus on the future in Missouri.
