The Texas Stars Just Added a Surprising New Rookie to Their Roster

By signing a young forward to an AHL contract, the Texas Stars are adding scoring depth, physicality, and a player with valuable junior and university experience for the 2025-26 season

A 25-year-old right winger is joining the team on an AHL contract after showing some encouraging signs last year in the ECHL.

Last season, he suited up for the Idaho Steelheads and made an impact in limited action. He played 21 games and managed to collect 11 goals and 10 assists - an even 21 points.

Kaleb Pearson wasn't just scoring, he maintained a strong plus-eight rating and chipped in three power-play goals, along with a game-winner. He was on the ice for good moments and stayed disciplined, logging just seven penalty minutes.

Before making the jump to pro hockey, Pearson spent several seasons playing at the University of Prince Edward Island. Across 90 games, he scored 46 goals and added 43 assists for a near point-per-game pace.

Although he posted a minus-15 rating at the university level, he also brought physical presence, racking up 158 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, he added six points in just nine appearances.

His junior years in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack also showed steady growth.

During his rookie season, he earned 28 points in 66 games. Then in his final year, he exploded with 52 points in 62 games and finished with a strong plus-22 rating.

Now, the Texas Stars are betting that Kaleb Pearson's consistent progress will continue.

I think he's someone worth keeping an eye on, especially as he transitions to a full AHL season.
