Edmonton Oilers preseason is officially in full swing and week two of their preseason is almost in the books. Starting off the week, the Oilers found themselves two provinces over to play the Winnipeg Jets. In the first game of week two, Edmonton was able to come away with a win, thanks to a final score of 3–2. The Oilers received goals from Quinn Hutson and Issac Howard, with Ty Emerson potting the eventual game winner. The Jets outshot the Oilers 23–17. Noah Philp and Quinn Hutson were the first and third stars of the game.
Back home at Rogers place for their second game of the week, saw the Oilers matchup against the Seattle Kraken. With the two superstars in the lineup, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both made their preseason debuts in this game. Unfortunately even with the firepower that they had, Edmonton still lost to the kraken by a final score of 4–1. Seattle received goals from Jagger Firkus, Logan Morrison, Ben Meyers and Jani Nyman, while the Oilers got their only goal of the game from one of their newest additions Andrew Mangiapane. Edmonton outshot Seattle 25–19. Andrew Mangiapane was the second star of the game.
For the third game of the week, it was Winnipeg’s turn to make their way to Oil Country to face off against the Oilers yet again. In game three, the Oilers found a way to win and with that, ended up winning both games versus the Jets. Edmonton won this game, thanks to a 4–0 shutout victory. The Oilers received their goals from Darnell Nurse, Josh Samanski, Noah Philp and Kasperi Kapanen. The Jets had 21 shots, while Edmonton had 20. Josh Samanski, Noah Philp and David Tomasek were the three stars of the game.
The final game of preseason week two was played at home, yet again and saw the Oilers go head-to-head against their division rival Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers found a way to win the game, thanks to a final score of 0–0. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid shined in this game, with Draisaitl putting up two goals and two assists, while McFavid put up one goal and two assists. The other goal scorer was Trent Frederic, who tucked the second goal of the game. The Canucks had 28 shots, while the Oilers ended up with 24.
Next up on the Edmonton Oilers preseason schedule, will see them play two games in three days against the Seattle Kraken and Vancouver Canucks. These games, will be the final two games before the Oilers regular season home opener on Wednesday October 8, where the first Battle of Alberta (BoA) will take place. It will be the final time for the Oilers regulars to get into regular season form and for the rookies to showcase why they deserve a final spot on the season roster.
The Oilers first game of preseason week three, which also happens to be their final set of preseason games, will see them go head-to-head against another one of their division rivals, the Seattle Kraken. Last season, the Oilers finished with three wins and one loss, thanks to, two wins at home and one on the road. Their only loss of the season against the Kraken, happened on the road in Seattle towards the end of the season on March 27, 2025.
Last season versus the Kraken at home, Edmonton scored nine goals and allowed six. On the road, Seattle scored eight and the Oilers scored five.
The Oilers second game of preseason week three and also their final game of the preseason, will see them matchup against another one of their western division rivals, the Vancouver Canucks. Last season, the Oilers finished with two wins and one loss, thanks to, a win at home and a win on the road. Their only loss of the season against the Canucks, happened on the road in Vancouver shortly after the new year on January 18, 2025.
Last season versus the Canucks at home, Edmonton scored six goals and allowed two. On the road, Vancouver scored six and the Oilers scored nine.
