A few players might be on their way back to the minors.
On Thursday, Calgary Flames winger Dryden Hunt, Minnesota Wild forward Ben Jones and Philadelphia Flyers Egor Zamula were placed on waivers, making them available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.

If all three players were to clear waivers on Friday, they would become eligible to be assigned to their respective American Hockey League affiliates.
Zamula had been a pretty consistent presence in the Flyers’ lineup for the first few weeks of the season, but has been a healthy scratch a lot of the time for the past couple of months. He last appeared in a game on Dec. 7 in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. He has a plus/minus of +4 while averaging just over 14 minutes per game.
The 25-year-old has appeared in 13 games so far, posting an assist back on Oct. 20, when Philadelphia came away with a 5-2 win at home over the Seattle Kraken. In 168 NHL games, Zamula has scored eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points.
If he were to clear the wire, the Russian rearguard could be sent down the minors for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
Jones had been in and out of the Wild’s lineup since the beginning of the season, even seeing the ice this past Tuesday, when the team beat up the Washington Capitals, 5-0. However, the Waterloo, Ont. native has yet to register a point in 19 appearances. He has a -5 rating while averaging 8:46 of ice time.
Jones has yet to notch a point in 47 NHL games.
Hunt’s name has been called up and sent down between the Flames and Wranglers this season. He did appear in a couple of games a few weeks ago, but hasn’t scored while averaging 10:37 of ice time. With the Wranglers, the Cranbrook, B.C. native has scored five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 16 games.
