Top 10 Goalies Entering 2026-27

The 2026-27 season begins three weeks from tomorrow. This list features two of the ten goalies that will play that night, and they just so happen to be facing each other. Let’s take a look at the top ten goalies entering the season.

10.) Juuse Saros – Nashville Predators

Saros, despite a down season, is still a top goalie in the NHL. He went 28-22-8 with a 3.16 goals-against average and an .894 save percentage. He’s finished top five in Vezina Trophy voting three times, finishing as high as third, which came in 2021-22.

9.) Lukas Dostal – Anaheim Ducks

Dostal proved why the Ducks moved on from John Gibson. He went 30-20-4 with a 3.10 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage. He was a big part of the Ducks making it back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

8.) Logan Thompson – Washington Capitals

Thompson, in 58 games for the Capitals, went 31-21-6 with a .912 save percentage, a 2.44 goals-against average, and four shutouts. He finished fifth in goals-against average, tied for third in save percentage, and tied for fourth in wins. He finished fourth in Vezina Trophy voting and 23rd in Hart Trophy voting.

7.) Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders

Sorokin last season went 29-24-2 with a 2.68 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and a league-leading seven shutouts. He finished second in the Vezina Trophy voting and was 23rd in Hart Trophy voting.

6.) Karel Vejmelka – Utah Mammoth

Vejmelka turned in an impressive first half of the 2025-26 campaign, making his case for a top goalie in the NHL. He went 38-20-3 with a 2.75 goals-against average, an .896 save percentage, and two shutouts. Vejmelka finished second in the league in wins.

5.) Jeremy Swayman – Boston Bruins

Swayman led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a strong second half after the Olympic break. He went 31-18-4 with a 2.71 goals-against average, a .907 save percentage, and two shutouts. He finished third in Vezina Trophy voting but came away 18th in Hart Trophy voting.

4.) Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers

If the Rangers want to rebound in 2026-27 and make it back to the playoffs, it’ll need to be off the back of Shesterkin. He went 25-19-6 with a 2.50 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage, and a shutout. Shesterkin finished tied for third in save percentage. He finished seventh in Vezina Trophy voting.

3.) Jake Oettinger – Dallas Stars

Oettinger is easily a top-three goalie in the NHL, and he proved that last season. He went 35-12-6 with a 2.59 goals-against average, an .899 save percentage, and four shutouts. He was third in the league in wins.

2.) Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner comes in at number two. He went 39-15-4 with a 2.31 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage, and two shutouts. Vasilevskiy was second in the league in goals-against average, tied for third in save percentage, and first in wins. He also finished tenth in Hart Trophy voting.

1.) Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets

Despite last season’s down year for Winnipeg, Hellebuyck showed in the Olympics why he’s the best goalie. He went 23-23-11 with a 2.86 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage. He went 5-0-0 in the Olympics with a 1.18 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage. USA doesn’t win Gold if Hellebuyck’s not in net.
