Big football Sunday in the NFL yesterday.

But don’t forget, there were hockey games too.

Here are the results and highlights from all five games:

1. A 21st 20-goal season for Alex Ovechkin

The Caps were in action yesterday.

They faced the Nashville Predators, but lost 3-2 in 60 minutes. In defeat, Alex Ovechkin again found the back of the net. He reached the 20-goal plateau for the 21st consecutive season.

Wow.

However, the Russian was powerless against Roman Josi.

The Preds captain collected a point on all his team’s goals (one goal and two assists). His goal was one of a kind.

Steven Stamkos also had a strong game, collecting two points.

He scored his team’s first goal.

Here, Stammer avoided the worst.

He tried to avoid goalie Charlie Lindgren, but to no avail

2. One-goal game in Boston

The Bruins won again. This time, it wasn’t a 10-2 game, but a 1-0 one.

Joonas Korpisalo was the big hero of the game, stopping all 27 shots he faced. It was his eighth career shutout.

His counterpart Stuart Skinner wasn’t bad either.

He made 17 saves on 18 shots.

Viktor Arvidsson was the only scorer of the game.

Boston is on the doorstep of the playoffs.

The club has as many points as the Washington Capitals and the last playoff spot.

3. Five points for Tomas Hertl against his former club

The Sharks are playing good hockey this season.

But yesterday, Vegas was too strong. The Nevada club won 7-2, thanks to a five-point performance by Tomas Hertl, playing against his former club.

Jack Eichel also did well, scoring two goals.

His first was his 300th point with Vegas.

A little later in the game, he was alone in the enclave.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored a goal and two assists.

4. Jackets win in overtime

In Salt Lake City, the Blue Jackets won a very close game in overtime.

Final score: 3-2. Dmitry Voronkov sealed the outcome.

Charlie Coyle forced overtime with a goal late in the second period.

Mikael Pyythia opened the scoring.

He scored his first goal of the season.

5. Second straight game with a goal for Jonathan Toews

Jonathan Toews isn’t necessarily the Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews anymore. He has just 15 points in 44 games this season with the Jets.

But lately, he’s been playing better. In fact, he’s scored in two consecutive games.

After an 11-game losing streak, the Jets have won their last two games.

Yesterday, in the afternoon game, they won 4-3 against the Devils.

It was 3-2 Devils late in the second period, until Gabriel Vilardi tied the game.

Former Habs Tanner Pearson scored the winning goal in the third period.

In defeat, Luke Hughes registered two assists.

One of his assists was collected on Cody Glass’ goal. His brother Jack picked up the other.
