Top Dallas Stars prospects who could surprise at 2025 training camp

The Dallas Stars enter training camp with a prospect pool ready to make things interesting.

The Dallas Stars already boast one of the NHL's deepest rosters, but their upcoming training camp could feature a battle that goes beyond the veterans.

A new wave of young talent is pushing hard, and several prospects could force management to make tough decisions before opening night.

Some are proven AHL standouts, while others are fresh from junior hockey but already catching the eyes of scouts.

It might be the most competitive camp Dallas has had in years.

Dallas Stars prospects Christian Kyrou, Mavrik Bourque, Lian Bichsel could make a push for NHL spots

Christian Kyrou is one name to watch. After putting up 15 points in 36 games with Texas last season, the 21-year-old right-shot defenseman is gaining momentum. Assistant GM Mark Janko said:

"He's been one of our most consistent puck movers in Texas. The decision-making is improving, and his instincts are hard to teach."

Then there's Mavrik Bourque, last year's AHL MVP with 77 points in 71 games. His vision and hockey sense are NHL-ready, and he could quickly earn a middle-six role if he translates that offense to Dallas.

Lian Bichsel brings a different weapon, size and nastiness on the back end. As one Stars scout put it to NHL.com,

"He's hard, mean, physical a nice piece to have to complement our high-end defensemen."

Finally, keep an eye on Emil Hemming, a Finnish winger known for his quick release and ability to score from tough angles. If he adjusts quickly to the North American game, he could sneak into a depth role.

With coach Glen Gulutzan looking to add "one degree" to push this team over the hump, these prospects could be part of that equation.

I think at least one of them will make the opening night roster, and camp will show who's truly NHL-ready.
