Top five Oilers fights of the year: #3 — Mattias Janmark fights Blake Coleman
Edmonton Oilers Mattias Jnamrk Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Oilersnation’s top five fights of the year, where we take a look at the highest-rated Edmonton Oilers fights of the year, courtesy of our friends at Hockey Fights.

The Oilers’ third-highest-rated fight of the year came last season, when Mattias Janmark fought Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman on February 24th.

If there’s one sneaky tough fighter on the Oilers, it’s Janmark, who highlighted here he can really chuck ‘knucks. The Flames had a 3-2 lead over the Oilers in that game and both players had been in the penalty box prior to the tilt: Janmark for cross-checking, and Coleman for unsportsmanlike conduct.

When their two-minute minors ended, both jumped out of the penalty box and the gloves were off.

Janmark unloaded on a stunned Coleman, firing frantic right hands that the latter had little answer for. Coleman would get a few rights in, but neither player would fall in the spirited fight.

Hockey Fights viewers saw Janmark as the winner of the fight, with 63 percent of the votes, while Coleman came in with 28 percent. Just eight percent saw the scrap as a draw.
