The Toronto Maple Leafs are cashed up heading into Free Agency, and now we know just how much they're willing to pay veteran Brad Marchand.
This off-season has already been full of trades and interesting moves, and on Tuesday July 1st, free agency is set to begin, with plenty of big names available on the free agency market.
Few are better than Brad Marchand however, and after another stellar run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the veteran is set to get paid, with many teams interested in the 37-year old.
While the Panthers are reportedly the favourite to retain Marchand after landing him at the 2025 trade deadline, but if he does hit the open market, it's the Toronto Maple Leafs that have as good a chance as any at landing him.
According to Chris Johnston, Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are prepared to throw the bag at Marchand as well, with his latest report noting that the team could be willing to go north of $9 million a season on a four-year deal to land his services.
While he's not the player he once was, Marchand showed just how effective he can be in the post-season, and with the team having money to spend with Mitch Marner on the way out in free agency, Marchand could be just what they need to finally go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Ultimately, it's unclear at this point in time where Marchand will end up in free agency, as he could re-sign with Florida or hit the open market on July 1st, but if he does hit the open market, if he wants the biggest deal, Toronto seem like the obvious landing spot for the Canadian star.
