Heading into this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs are being viewed as a team that could content for a championship.

When you are a title contender, your roster is usually pretty well determined before training camp even begins. Maybe one player is out there competing for a spot, but that is about it. Having said that, the team has been making a whole bunch of cuts. Today, the team even made 21 of them. Perhaps the biggest was Nick Abruzzese, who was placed on waivers where he is expected to clear. From there, he can go play for the Marlies.

Below is the full list of Maple Leafs roster cuts.

Nick Abruzzese
Marc Barbolini
James Frasca
Matthew Gosselin
Braeden Kressler
Brandon Lisowsky
Robert Mastrosimone
Max Sikic
Zach Solow
Sam Stevens
Ty Voit
William Villeneuve
Max Anderson
Julius Bengtsson
Ryan McCleary
Tyrell Miller
Rhett Parsons
Connor Sharpe
Jon Gillies
Vyacheslav Peksa
Dennis Hildeby

Being placed on waivers or sent back down to the minors is never fun. However, it doesn't mean the journey is over just yet. These are some talented players and their day will come eventually.
