As the Leafs get set for the start of the western road trip there have been a number of small pieces of news that have trickled into Leafs land today. Here’s the rundown of what has been going on.
Ty Voit's debut season in the AHL will have to wait until next October. The 20-year-old fifth-round pick suffered a shoulder injury at the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in September and returned to full health at the beginning of December.
Ty Voit's injury troubles continue in what's supposed to be his first professional season. The 20-year-old forward was making his AHL debut with the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday against the Providence Bruins, but had to leave just six minutes into the game after he went into the boards awkwardly.
Welcome back for another edition of the Leafs Prospect Roundup! It was a bit of a light week in the world of Leafs prospects, so we’re going to go with more of a rapid-fire style for this one.
We have updated the criteria from previous editions of TLN’s prospect rankings regarding who is considered a “prospect” for the purpose of this exercise.
Ty Voit is the first skater revealed in The Hockey News - Toronto's Maple Leafs prospect rankings. During a 10-day period that will span from August 7-14, I will be releasing my rankings (from 10-1) of who I believe is the closest prospect to playing full-time NHL hockey with the Maple Leafs.
If there's anyone who seems ready for their first pro season in the Maple Leafs organization, it's Ty Voit. Voit, a fifth-round draft pick (153rd overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft, is participating in his third development camp with the Maple Leafs and is excited for the next step in his hockey career.
Heading into the 2023 NHL draft, the Toronto Maple Leafs hold onto three picks, located at 28th, 153rd, and 185th in the selection process. Whether they
If there's been one stereotype about the Maple Leafs' drafting in the past few years, it's been their love for the small, skilled, zippy forwards. Semyon Der-Argunchintsev, Nick Robertson, Nick Abruzzese, Dmitri Ovchinnikov, Veeti Miettinen, and Ty Voit all come to mind.
This past season, Ty Voit finished second in the entire OHL with 105 points in 67 games – which also led his whole team by 23 points. That is a 25 point improvement from the previous year.
The CHL playoffs have reached the conference finals, and there are still three teams with four Maple Leafs prospects left playing. Those four would be (in order of quality prospect): Fraser Minten, Ty Voit, Brandon Lisowsky and Josh Pillar.
Matthew Knies made his long awaited NHL debut with the Leafs last week, showcasing his potential as an impact player through the final three games of the regular season, but it appears he will be on the outside looking in when the Leafs begin their pursuit of postseason glory on Tuesday.
The spotlight was shining bright on Mitch Marner and the rest of the NHL All-Stars in Florida this past weekend, but the AHL also got their All-Star festivities underway with their skills competition on Sunday night.
The Leafs picked up a convincing road win against Philadelphia in their 41st game of the campaign on Sunday night, marking the official halfway point in the regular season.
No one knew what would become of the missed Ontario Hockey League season in 2020-21 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of players that were up
It’s a fresh week and you all need some fresh takes. Well…you don’t need them, but damned if you aren’t going to get them from me anyway. So here we go with another exciting edition of Leaflets.
The Leafs have failed to supplement their roster with cheap, homegrown talent in recent years after some mostly fruitless drafts during the Lou Lamoriello era, but we may be starting to see the beginnings of the Leafs’ next youth movement.
Well, it’s safe to say the Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t off to the hottest start to the season. Giveaways in the neutral zone, poor defensive coverage and a lacklustre performance up front has them off to a rocky start and has plagued them early on, but the same can’t be said about a number of the team’s prospects.
Someone has to be the first person to leave a party, and in this case it appears to be Ty Voit. Voit is one of the few junior eligible players in the Leafs camp and with CHL seasons started it makes sense to get players like Voit back where they can develop the most.
It’s easy to forget that we’re just one season removed from the cancellation of the 2020-21 OHL campaign. The long-term impact of the development for the prospects affected has yet to be seen, but we are already beginning to see steals emerge from the 2021 draft in the short term.
We have some positive Maple Leafs news! Today, the club announced the signing of 2021 fifth-round pick Ty Voit to a three-year, entry-level deal: We’ve signed forward Ty Voit to a three-year entry level contract.
Taking a deeper dive into Voit’s history, scouting reports, and as many highlights as I can find Ty Voit is an American from Pittsburgh, selected 153rd overall by the Maple Leafs in the NHL Draft last weekend.
