Trevor Zegras was finally traded by the Ducks this week, and now, he's opened up on the move and taken a shot at former GM Pat Verbeek in the process.

Following several years of trade speculation, the Anaheim Ducks moved quickly to trade star forward Trevor Zegras this week, as he's been reunited with Jamie Drysdale as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The deal was a bit of a confusing one on the part of the Ducks, and when he was first asked to address it, Zegras took a small swipe at Pat Verbeek, telling reporters they'd need to ask him why the young forward needed to be moved.

'You'd have to ask (Ducks GM Pat Verbeek). That's a good question. I don't know. I just try to be a good teammate, do what was asked of me, and I'm gonna bring that same mindset to Philly.'

Following plenty of trade speculation, getting out of Anaheim was ultimately a great move for Zegras, and although it came as a shock, he's clearly ready to move on for a new start with the Flyers and the young core they're building.

In Anaheim, Zegras started red-hot, becoming a bright star of the future in the NHL, but unfortunately for the 24-year old, injuries happened and he couldn't sustain this level of play, and while the team decided to trade him while his value was at its lowest, he needed to be moved. regardless.

Ultimately, this was a solid move for both parties, as it was clear that Zegras was never a Pat Verbeek type of player, and now, he's got a new start in Philadelphia as he looks to get back to the 60-point player we've seen in the past, taking a shot at his former GM on the way out.
