The Buffalo Sabres are reportedly looking for people in advisory roles, and now, two Hall of Fame GM's have been confirmed to have turned down interest as the Sabres look to turn around what has been a lengthy period of struggle for the team.
This past season was yet another horrific disappointment for the Buffalo Sabres, and with the team extending their playoff drought to 14 seasons, the longest drought in professional sports in North America.
Unfortunately, things don't seem to be getting better, as the team have the No. 9 overall pick in the upcoming draft, but beyond that, there's very little optimism that this team has the fire power to be able to turn things around in the near future.
Throughout the 2024/25 campaign, there were rumours that the team could be looking to split from GM Kevyn Adams, but for now, his job is safe, with the organization looking to bring in advisors to help him moving forward.
Now, it's been revealed that the team approached both Lou Lamoriello and Ken Holland, but according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, both showed no interest, declining interviews with the team.
Given the state of the Sabres, it's no surprise that any role with the team right now isn't exactly an exciting one, and with both Lamoriello and Holland at the tail end of their careers, this job doesn't quite suit their timeline.
Ultimately, the Sabres are going to have to turn things around on their own, and with a solid core led by Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin, there's some very intriguing young talent there, but if they can't take a step forward anytime soon, there will be major question marks asked about this organization moving forward.
