Sidney Crosby is still a highly respected and appreciated player by Montreal Canadiens fans, and we see this at every one of his visits to the Bell Centre.
In recent months, various experts and commentators have had fun linking him to the Canadiens, either closely or remotely.
The most recent is the excellent Mathias Brunet.
As part of a recent episode of the popular podcast Processus, Brunet and Simon Boisvert had an interesting discussion on the topic, and a trade offer was even made (for the sake of discussion and entertainment).
See the post in question:
'We're having fun! If the Habs drafts near the 16th overall pick this year, would you be willing to trade that pick for Sidney Crosby?'
'It's very hypothetical, we're just having fun. Pittsburgh is desperate, they don't have the upper hand, Crosby wants to go to a place, would you give the 16th overall pick for Crosby? For a year or two, and you think it will help boost things a bit.'- Mathias Brunet
Here is Simon Snake Boisvert's response:
From a hockey perspective, he would help tremendously, but it's definitely a short-term solution. It always depends on who is available at the 16th spot.
I would say yes if the Canadiens were further along in their rebuild.

The full excerpt:
Personally, I'm 99.9% convinced that the Pittsburgh Penguins would never make this trade, even if his contract is nearing its end, but if by some miracle it were to happen, Kent Hughes could not refuse.
So, Brunet's proposal is as follows:
To Montreal - Sidney Crosby
To Pittsburgh - 16th overall pick in the 2025 draft
Would you do it, if you were in the shoes of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton?
