The highly anticipated USA-Canada showdown at the 4 Nations Face-Off wasted no time in delivering fireworks.
Just two seconds after the opening faceoff, USA's Matthew Tkachuk and Canada's Brandon Hagel dropped the gloves, kicking off a chaotic start that saw three separate fights unfold within the first nine seconds of play.
The first scrap can be attributed to the rivalry between Floridan NHL rivals Tkachuk of the Panthers and Hagel of the Tampa Bay Lightning trade blows before Hagel wrestled Tkachuk to the ice.
The Bell Centre crowd erupted as Hagel took a victory lap, throwing his hands in the air to fire up the Canadian fans.

As soon as the puck dropped again , Brady Tkachuk and Sam Bennett engaged in a second fight, just one second after the first.
Brady, who had already called his shot before the game, took control of the bout, getting the better of Bennett in their international fight.

The third fight came six seconds later as J.T. Miller and Colton Parayko squared off near the boards.
The 6-foot-6 Parayko had the size and reach advantage over Miller, but the American Rangers forward held his own in what capped off a ridiculous start to the game.

Right after the third and final fight, Canada was awarded a power play for Miller’s cross-checking penalty, but the physicality never again reached the initial nine-second heights with actual hockey taking over.
Connor McDavid opened the scoring for Canada in the first period, but Jake Guentzel responded five minutes later for Team USA.
Dylan Larkin netted the game-winner in the second period, and Guentzel added the third and final goal with an empty-netter as Team USA secured a 3-1 victory.
With the win, the U.S. clinched a spot in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game scheduled for Thursday in Boston.
Meanwhile, Canada can still earn a rematch against Team USA in the final but that will require the Canadiens to beat Finland in regulation on Monday's matchup.
