Vancouver Canucks Linked To A Former First Round Pick Center From The Minnesota Wild

The Vancouver Canucks were linked to a former first-round pick center from the Minnesota Wild organization.

After trading away J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers following a feud with Elias Pettersson, the lack of depth on the Vancouver Canucks' lineup truly hurt the team, who couldn't bounce back from their poor start in the final stretch of the season.

The Canucks could be interested in acquiring a key center from the Minnesota Wild to fill the hole in their lineup.

Indeed, according to Cam Robinson, the Canucks could go after the 23-year-old center Marco Rossi.

He stated that Rossi is talented, but the Wild isn't exactly sold on him because of his size, and that the Canucks could be looking for a bigger player considering Elias Pettersson isn't that big either.

He did finish by mentioning how Rossi could change his style if he were asked to do it, likely to focus on play-driving.

Here's what Robinson had to say on the latest Canucks Army podcast:

'I love talent, and that's why I like Marco Rossi. That said, he might not be a perfect fit in Vancouver, mainly because of his size. And, you know, Pettersson isn't exactly a big, heavy center either, so you'd be a little light down the middle there - although you'd have tons of skill.

I've said this before, even on The Security segment: I don't think Minnesota is completely sold on Marco Rossi, and it's purely because of his size. That's the only knock on him. He's young, productive, and a total pro - first guy at the rink, last one to leave. He's incredibly dedicated to his craft, and the players really like him.

I honestly think he'd be a great fit for almost any team looking to slot him in as a second-line center. It'd be even better if your first-line center is, say, 6'3' and 220 pounds. In Vancouver's case, you're absolutely right - he wouldn't have that kind of big-bodied center to play behind like he did in Minnesota during the regular season. So he'd need to take that next step and become more of a play-driver himself, which I definitely believe is possible.'
