The Vancouver Canucks are on the verge of re-signing forward Connor Garland ahead of the start of free agency per the latest report release on Thursday.
Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland has one year left on his current contract and is eligible to sign an extension in just a few days on July 1.
Based on a newly released report, it sounds as though Garland and the Canucks are making serious progress toward an extension that would keep him in Vancouver beyond the expiration of his current deal in 2026.
Per analyst Frank Seravalli, the Canucks and Garland are in the midst of contract talks that could soon result in pen to paper.
Sounds like Canucks have made significant progress in extension talks with winger Conor Garland. He's not eligible to re-sign until July 1, but wouldn't be surprised to see it get over the finish line relatively shortly thereafter.
This coincides with a recent report from analyst David Pagnotta, who stated days ago that there was legitimate interest on Vancouver's part to keep Garland with the Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks want to hold on to Conor Garland, as Elliotte Friedman first hinted at Friday. The two sides are expected to begin extension talks in the near future. He is entering the final year of his contract, and I'm told is very interested in staying beyond his current deal.
Garland's current deal has an AAV (average annual value) is $4.95 million. This year, he had 50 points (19G, 31A) in 81 games. He was acquired by the Canucks in 2021 (along with Oliver Ekman-Larsson) from the Arizona Coyotes.
Now all that is left is for the Canucks and Garland's agent to get the deal across the finish line and secure his future in Vancouver.
