The Abbotsford Canucks, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, are closing in on signing 26-year-old forward Nolan Walker, per Ben Lypka of Abbotsford News.

The Vancouver Canucks have finished all but their offseason business after General Manager Patrik Allvin re-signed the final two unrestricted free agents on Tuesday: goaltender Nikita Tolopilo and defenceman Jett Woo.

Despite that, there are still a few organizational necessities, especially with their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. After their first-ever Calder Cup championship, Abbotsford has lost a few players and is looking to restock.

One such addition is apparently coming. According to Ben Lypka of 'Abbotsford News', the team is reportedly close to signing 26-year-old center Nolan Walker.

'Hearing that the Abbotsford Canucks are close to announcing a deal with forward Nolan Walker. He spent last season in Sweden and put up some big numbers in the ECHL before that.

He could end up here or Kalamazoo,' Lypka said.

Nolan Walker is from Alaska and doesn't have much AHL experience

Nolan Walker, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, has very little AHL experience: just four games with the Cleveland Monsters in 2023-24.

He played last season in Sweden with IK Oskarshamn of the HockeyAllsvenskan (second level), where he had a very good year. He put up 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 51 games, was a +7, and had 10 penalty minutes.

Before heading overseas, Walker started his pro career well in the ECHL and showed enough promise to catch the eye of the Canucks organization, particularly with Abbotsford losing forwards Ty Glover and Tristen Nielsen, neither of whom were given qualifying offers.

If the signing is completed, Walker could slot into a bottom-six role for Abbotsford to start the 2025-26 season, providing some depth and two-way skill for a team looking to defend its AHL championship.
