Vancouver Canucks Reportedly Eyeing Trade for Selke Nominee

The Vancouver Canucks need some major help this off-season, and now, it appears they're targeting a Tampa Bay Lightning superstar in a blockbuster trade.

After a season in which they traded away some top names and are likely to lose another in free agency, it's clear that a change is needed with General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks.

Many have expected them to target some of the bigger names available in free agency over the summer, but now, it appears they're potentially eyeing a blockbuster trade as well.

With a major need down the middle, Tampa Bay Lightning star Anthony Cirelli has been identified as a potential fit for the Canucks on the trade market, as they too are looking to shake things up following a third straight first-round exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 27-year old comes into the summer after representing Canada at the Four Nations Face Off following a career year that saw him tally 27 goals and 59 points in 80 games played as well as being a Selke nominee, and while many believe he should be a key piece for the Lightning moving forward, someone has to be moved on, and Cirelli might be one that lands them an impressive return.

It's unclear what that return would be, but entering his prime with a $6.25 million salary cap hit from now until the end of the 2030/31 campaign, he's one of the more affordable options on the market for teams looking to add down the middle of their lineup.

Ultimately, a change has to come in both Vancouver and Tampa Bay this off-season, so the two doing business with each other would certainly make sense, so while it may not be Cirelli, don't be shocked to see the two talking business at some point in the summer.
