Vegas Golden Knights Make Late-Night Multi-Player Trade

The Nashville Predators and the Vegas Golden Knights made a multi-player trade late last night involving Nicolas Hague.

Yesterday, the Predators and the Golden Knights agreed on the terms of a trade. Vegas acquired defenseman Nicolas Hague in a three-player deal that sent Colton Sissons and defenseman Jeremy Lauzon to Vegas.

In addition to acquiring Hague, Nashville agreed to terms on a four-year, $22 million contract extension with the 26-year-old defenseman.

At 6-foot-6, Hague is a defensive defenseman who brings a physical presence at the blue line. Last season, he scored five goals and 12 points in 68 games. Over his six-year NHL career, he tallied 20 goals and 83 points in 364 games with the Golden Knights.

This trade comes as teams across the league maneuver to shape their rosters ahead of the NHL's free agency, which officially opens tomorrow.

For the Golden Knights, the trade helps create valuable cap flexibility. By parting ways with Hague and his pending arbitration case, they gain cost certainty by bringing in Sissons and Lauzon, each entering the final year of their contracts.

Sissons, 31, leaves Nashville after spending his entire 11-year career with the franchise. Carrying a $2.86 million cap hit, he produced seven goals and 21 points in 72 games last season, and has totaled 95 goals and 221 points over 691 career appearances.

Lauzon, 28, has seven years of NHL experience and comes with a $2 million cap hit. His season was cut short after just 28 games due to a lower-body injury, where he recorded a single assist.

With the trade completed, all eyes will turn to Vegas, who have been linked as a possible destination for Toronto's Mitch Marner, the most prominent name expected to hit the market.
