Forward Keegan Kolesar scored a goal and had an assist in the Vegas Golden Knights‘ 3-1 victory against the Anaheim Ducks at T-Mobile Arena on Monday.
Kolesar assisted on the game’s first goal, finding Tanner Pearson who scored in the high slot.
It capped a dominant period for the Golden Knights, who started off the game on the right foot for the first time in recent memory. Vegas outshot Anaheim 12-7 and had plenty of high-danger chances to start the game.
“We addressed that our starts haven’t been good enough,” Kolesar said. “Tonight, it was nice to get the first one, played with the lead. Obviously, we let our foot off the gas there to start the third, but we were able to come back and push through.”
The Golden Knights surrendered an early goal in the third period. Tomáš Hertl scored the go-ahead goal before Kolesar scored the insurance goal in the third.
Kolesar and the team didn’t want to enter the holiday break on a sour note. They wanted to complete the win and leave for the holidays with a four-game winning streak.
“You got to look upon yourself, right? We’re all professionals. We’re all competitive guys,” Kolesar said. “If one of us doesn’t feel good about this game going into the break, you’re sitting on it for three days, and it’s going to eat away at you.”
