Watch: Golden Knights’ Olofsson says ‘it wasn’t their night’

Vegas Golden Knights forward Victor Olofsson credited the New York Islanders’ structure as one of the reasons why the Islanders picked up a 4-0 victory at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.

“They’re very good in their structure. They didn’t give us anything, really. You’ve just got to kind of play a simple game,” Olofsson said. “When we did have success, we did have pucks down in their end. We’ve got to try to get a little bit more pucks to the net, probably. We didn’t get enough pucks in there. We definitely did not have the second chances we wanted. So yeah, tough game.”

The Golden Knights fired off 30 shots but only generated six high-danger chances, according to Natural Stat Trick.

“It wasn’t our night. They played a solid, tight game and made it hard for us offensively,” Olofsson said. “You’ve just got to be patient against teams like this, and I think we gave them a little bit too much and gave them a couple of goals. It’s a hard team to beat when they’re up a couple of goals and just trying to shut it down.”
