The newly acquired Mikko Rantanen is making himself right at home with his new team.
In his first home game since being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 24, Rantanen recorded his first goal as a member of the squad.
The early second-period tally put the Hurricanes on top of the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 after teammate Jack Roslovic provided a sick between-the-legs assist as he entered the offensive zone.

Rantanen has now recorded two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in three games since his trade from the Colorado Avalanche. His first point as a Hurricane came on the road against the New York Rangers on Jan. 28.
Colorado received Martin Necas, Jack Drury, a 2025 second-round draft pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick from Carolina in the three-team blockbuster trade. The Hurricanes also received Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks who mediated the deal.
Rantanen is now up to 66 points on the season, which keeps him on pace to top his career high of 105 set in 2022-23.
