Watch: Sabres beat Blackhawks with wacky broken stick goal in final seconds

The Buffalo Sabres trailed the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 on Monday before rallying to win 6-5. The wacky game-winning goal for the Sabres came with just over 10 seconds left in the third period.

Buffalo's Tage Thompson got the winner when his stick broke on a shot that sent the puck off the boards and then off the skate of Blackhawks goaltender Kevin Lankinen before finding the back of the net.

Thompson, 24, has now scored 28 goals this season after scoring 18 in his first four NHL seasons combined. The Sabres' first two goals of the night both came from Victor Olofsson, and Buffalo's Alex Tuch scored the goal that tied the game, 5-5, with just over two minutes left.

The Sabres are now 24-33-10 and have 58 points, which is good enough for sixth place in the Atlantic Division. The Blackhawks are seventh in the Central Division with a matching 24-33-10 record.
