Hockey's greatest all-time player, Wayne Gretzky, never shies away from the spotlight, and this time he predicted the Oilers will make the finals and do some damage.

Wayne Gretzky isn't going quite as far as to predict this year's Stanley Cup Final with certainty, but he believes the Edmonton Oilers will face last year's champion , the Florida Panthers, in a rematch.

On the 'New Heights' podcast with NFL titans Jason and Travis Kelce, Gretzky indicated the talented, young Oilers 'learned a great lesson' from their recent run.

'They'll be a little bit different, a little bit more prepared, and some of the things won't be surprises off the ice,' he noted.

He stressed Edmonton's home-ice advantage in a potential Final, referencing the tactical benefit of last line changes, faceoff benefits, and a potential Game 7 at home.

'In the playoffs, (Games) four to seven is a big difference,' Gretzky explained.

The interview was recorded before the Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 Tuesday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Final, a series Gretzky had predicted would be a seven-gamer. Tonight is Game 5 in Dallas.

The Panthers eliminated the Hurricanes in Game 5 last night

The Panthers sealed their third-straight Final appearance by beating the Hurricanes in Game 5 on Wednesday.

Gretzky was holding up a black OVO sweater emblazoned with his iconic No. 99, speaking to fans from what looked like a St. Louis Blues practice facility.

He and his wife, Janet, a native of St. Louis, moved there in 2021 so she could be near her mother.

While best known for his time with Edmonton and Los Angeles, Gretzky also played 18 games for the Blues in 1996 before a feud with coach Mike Keenan sent him packing to the Rangers.

When he retired in 1999, Gretzky held 61 NHL records; he now holds or shares 55. In April, Washington's Alexander Ovechkin broke one of the longest-standing records when he reached Gretzky's 894 regular-season goals with his 895th.
