Do you want to hear some good news, dear reader? Well, it actually doesn't just involve the Vegas Golden Knights returning to the ice against the Chicago Blackhawks. The fun begins on September 29 at T-Mobile Arena, aka America's Arena. It also involves the temperature cooling down.
But that's also not the only thing to look forward to in September. After all, not everyone likes to watch their faces melt away from the blistering 100-degree Fahrenheit heat. You know what's coming after saying that, dear reader.
Not quite, but it'll do. It encapsulates living in Las Vegas during the summer months.
Anyway, this month is the birthday month of yours truly. It perfectly coincides with the arrival of the Golden Knights' Rookie Camp, which falls on... September 12. That's also known as the birthday of the author writing this piece, which... is interesting, to say the least.
For one, the author isn't getting any younger. He'll be 36 later this month, moving one step closer to... old age. While celebrating another year around the sun sounds nice, it's also a harsh reminder not to squander your chances in life. After all, you only live once, right?
First, be sure to celebrate the month of September and everything that comes with it. It isn't just the end of the blistering triple digits that come with being in a literal desert. It's also the dawn of the new hockey season, which actually starts this month.
With two more games thrown in to balance the divisional structure out, it makes life much more bearable from an obsessive standpoint. You know that you wouldn't live with yourself if you didn't get more hockey. So, enjoy this part of September, especially as the later days of the month roll in.
Second, be sure to go outside a little bit earlier. Sure, it's still hot enough to make your water hot after 15 minutes. It might even be insufferably windy to the point where your balls (soccer) are blowing away. But it won't leave you melting in your car, even if you have the AC cranked all the way up.
Finally, please keep drinking water. Just because the temperatures are cooling down doesn't mean that you should neglect the H2O. If you're not drinking enough water, you're not doing your organs any favors. Would you rather pound your liver into oblivion with beer and shrink your... specialty, or would you rather replenish your body with the hydrating stuff? More importantly, would you rather stuff your kidneys with rocks by drinking too much Mountain Dew, or do you want to treat your body like a temple?
The moral of the story is to take care of yourself at every turn. Please nourish your body with the necessary nutrients before hockey season starts, especially as Father Time creeps up. That's the lesson that the author is learning as he approaches turning 36 later in the month.
