Welcome back to the playoffs, Josh Anderson

Let’s go back in time, when we were talking about Josh Anderson’s market value.

What did we say in the last few years? That we should capitalize on his value (if it existed), because Josh Anderson is the kind of guy whose best use is in the playoffs.

And clearly, we didn’t expect Anderson to make the playoffs so quickly in Montreal. We thought he’d be more magical (even though he probably is right now) the day the CH returned to the playoffs.

But for better or worse, he’s still in Montreal.

This season, Anderson has been an inspiration to the guys in the dressing room. Playing through injuries has allowed him to stand out and inspire the rest of his team. #FourthStar

And now he’s been rewarded with a playoff appearance.

For the CH, this is a good thing, as it means Anderson will be back in the playoffs. He doesn’t need to have his coach explain to him that he’s not just there to participate, clearly.

It’s worth remembering that in 2021, he had an impact on the Habs. His style of play was perfect for the playoffs.

Seeing him play with Brendan Gallagher (who’s also giving it his all) and Christian Dvorak this year will bring something really interesting to a trio that’s been working well since the start of the 2024-2025 season.

But I especially like to remember that in 2019, when he was in Columbus, his club swept the Lightning. And even though he’d been quiet offensively, Steve Yzerman had said his club had “no answer” against Josh Anderson.

That’s saying a lot.

This kind of player, described as “hard to play against” in the playoffs, is important once the first 82 games are over. And that’s why I’m sure the talk in the dressing room right now is that getting Josh Anderson back into the playoffs is a good thing.

Welcome back to the playoffs, Josh Anderson.
