With a little over a week to go before the NHL Trade Deadline, a number of teams are ready to spend an arm and a leg to bolster their lineups for a playoff push.
One player that seems to be on a lot of people’s minds is New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck. A veteran center with a lot left in the tank, the 32-year-old has the ability to be a solid secondary scorer while adding depth down the middle. He can also be a reliable player in his own zone, which is an important trait to have heading into the postseason.
With the Rangers being a certified seller heading into next Friday’s deadline, many are expecting pieces like Trocheck to be heading out of Manhattan. The only question is – who will be the best fit?
On Thursday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, David Pagnotta joined Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton to lay out which teams are in the running to acquire Trocheck.
David Pagnotta: There is a lot of interest in him. Three more years on his contract, a great cap hit for what his capabilities are at $5.65 million. There’s a lot of teams. I can’t pinpoint it at this stage. I think it’s still premature to potentially pinpoint that. You’re looking at Carolina, his former team, that has interest. Detroit. I think Boston, to a certain degree, not fully sure how high, but I think them as well. I think every team in the Central right now that’s in the top three would like to get their hands on Vinny Trocheck as well.
We know he doesn’t want to go out west. So, how far west? I’m not too sure, but he would prefer to stay as east as possible and he’s got some control as part of this as well. So, you know the Rangers are going to continue to navigate this over the next few days, but they want to maximize a return here, and they’re going to let these teams kind of battle it out to see who can fight for his services.
