The Vancouver Canucks have struggled through the first quarter of the 2025-26 regular season, posting a 9-12-2 record with 20 points, seventh in the Pacific Division.
The Canucks lost 5-2 to the Calgary Flames on Sunday, which gives them six losses in their last eight games.
On Monday night, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the team has let it be known they are willing to listen to offers on “veteran players,” leaving some wondering who in Vancouver is available.
On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Canucks’ struggles, the recent reports of them listening to offers and which players could be on the trade market.
Tyler Yaremchuk: The Vancouver Canucks are open for business! it sounds like they’re making veterans available, but not Quinn Hughes. Who could be in that group of players that Jim Ruff Rutherford and co. are looking to move?
You have to look at the guys with one or two years left on their deal. Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger as a fourth liner, and Kiefer Sherwood, who has obviously got off to a red-hot start this year. On the blue line, a lot of people are looking at a guy like Tyler Myers, who still has two more years with a cap hit of $3 million.
What do you make of the Vancouver Canucks being open for business in November?
Carter Hutton: I feel like they should’ve been open for business when the season started. It feels like they are this in-between team, right? It just feels like where they’re at and what they’ve gotten rid of, and the pace that they’re playing at it, just doesn’t feel like they’re a threat at all.
