Who are the seven players on try-outs at Flames prospects training camp?
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames announced their roster for their annual prospects training camp on Friday!

They’re bringing 25 players to camp: 12 players on NHL contracts, three unsigned draft picks, three players on AHL contracts… and seven players attending camp on try-outs.

Let’s learn about the seven players on try-outs, shall we?

G Jordan Switzer

The 25-ranked North American goaltender from June’s draft, Switzer backed up Harrison Meneghin with Medicine Hat last season – he was teammates with Flames prospect Andrew Basha. Switzer posted strong numbers last year, most notably 23 wins, and he attended Flames development camp in July.

D Colton Alain

Alain is a big body, listed at 6’4″ and 196 pounds. He’s a right shot defender that posted seven points last season with the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, a jump up from the six he posted the season prior.

D Eduard Bondar

The 147th-ranked North American skater in June’s draft, Bondar is a Russian import listed at 6’5″ and 194 pounds. A right shot defender, he spent last season with the Val-d’Or Foreurs, where he had 12 points in 54 games.

D Daniil Skvortsov

The 154th-ranked North American skater in June’s draft, Skvortsov is also a Russian import. He’s listed at 6’4″ and 214 pounds. A left shot defender, he spent last season with the Guelph Storm, where he had 18 points in 59 games. He spent part of 2023-24 with Krasnaya Armiya Moskva, where he was teammates with Flames prospect Yan Matveiko.

LW Nathan Brisson

The captain of the Val-d’Or Foreurs, Brisson is a 5’10”, 174 pound forward. He had 72 points over 62 games with the Foreurs last season.

C Mael Lavigne

A 20-year-old – a departure from the rest of this list, who are all 18-year-olds passed over in June’s draft – Lavigne is 6’4″ and 203 pounds. He split last season between Victoriaville and Rimouski, and he served as captain with the Tigres. He posted 49 points over 63 games overall, and he’s moved to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for this coming season.

LW Kadon McCann

A product of Cochrane, Alberta, McCann is another Basha teammate with Medicine Hat. He was the 116th-ranked North American skater in 2025’s draft and is listed at 6’3″ and 205 pounds. He had 18 points in 64 games with the Tigers last season, a slight decrease over his production in 2023-24.
