The New Jersey Devils star forward delivered the golden moment, literally scoring the overtime winner against arch-rival Canada to lift the U.S. men to their first Olympic hockey gold since the iconic “Miracle on Ice” in 1980.

Jack Hughes was born on May 14, 2001, into a hockey family in Orlando, Florida, but ultimately grew up immersed in the sport in the Northeastern United States. His path to elite hockey began early:
