TEMPE -- Every week that passes for the Arizona State football program seems to be more consequential than the previous - that is, at least the perception during the Kenny Dillingham era.

The current week doesn't seem to refute that notion whatsoever, as the Sun Devils are in the midst of another crucial week - both in spring practice and in the race to build the best recruiting class of the Dillingham era.

The Sun Devils received news that will undoubtedly bring joy to the staff and fans alike on Wednesday, as four-star 2027 tackle Jake Hildebrand announced the final four possible destinations for his collegiate career.

Arizona State (previously announced) was joined by Utah, Texas A&M, and Oregon - although numerous signs have pointed to the Sun Devils holding an upper hand at this point.

Arizona State on SI discusses why earning a pledge from Hildebrand would advance Dillingham's agenda for the program to the greatest degree, as outlined below.

Hildebrand Pledge Paves Way for Local Recruiting

Dillingham and staff have spent countless hours over the last three-plus years attempting to gain traction in the local recruiting scene, an area the head coach has emphasized is deeply important to him.

There have been successes on that front, including adding WR Uriah Neloms as part of the 2025 class, but there have yet to be consistent victories to the level that Dillingham has set ambitions to.

Landing Hildebrand wouldn't only set the precedent for the future - it would also serve as the benchmark for prospective recruits, including those considered blue-chip.

The same argument was made for Devin Fitzgerald last summer - although it didn't come to fruition, the fallout was very much in motion before Notre Dame took over the process. The vision is very clearly in place, and Hildebrand's commitment would be about as profound an addition as one could conceive.

Saga Tuitele Would Continue To Build Legacy

Tuitele has done one of the more under-appreciated jobs amongst Dillingham's staff as the OL coach. The experienced leader has built a strong track record during his time in Tempe, culminating in the development of former JUCO tackle Max Iheanachor, who is now set to be a high selection in the NFL draft.

Tuitele is putting together a functional line this season after losing much of his production from last season, and being able to earn a pledge from Hildebrand would be beyond measure. Not only would Tuitele firmly establish himself as one of the premier recruiters on the West Coast, but he would also etch himself in the history of the program.
