It was a complete beatdown Saturday night as the Minnesota Wild were crushed 6-0 by the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Wild (31-18-4) were outshot a whopping 52-16.
With 1 minute, 59 seconds remaining in the first period, Josh Norris scored a short-handed goal for the Senators (28-20-4), and things only got worse from there.
Tim Stutzle scored 7 minutes, 38 seconds into the third period, and Michael Amadio scored 1 minute, 7 seconds later to make it a three-goal Senators advantage.
Jake Sanderson scored a power-play goal 38 seconds into the third period and the route was on. Brady Tkachuk added a power-play goal 59 seconds later, and Drake Batherson added another with the extra attacker 1 minute, 15 seconds after that.
Ryan Hartman picked up a match penalty at the end of the second period, which led to the five-minute power play for Ottawa. A suspension could be next for Hartman.
Automatic review by the NHL. Assuming this is upheld, Hartman could face a lengthy suspension since his fourth career suspension was last April for throwing his stick toward officials. Either way, it puts him in repeat offender status, meaning salary lost would be games (x/82) https://t.co/Vy3MWBV1q6

Filip Gustavsson made 46 saves on the 52 shots from the Senators. It was a 16-save shutout for Leevi Merilainen.
The Wild return Tuesday when they visit the Boston Bruins for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
