Wild Place Daemon Hunt On Waivers

As the Minnesota Wild continue to reintroduce injured players to the lineup, other players will suffer the consequences. Today, that player is defenseman Daemon Hunt, whom the Wild announced they have placed on waivers.

Presumably, Minnesota will assign Hunt to the AHL’s Iowa Wild if he clears. Given that he is strictly a depth defenseman, even at his age, the Wild shouldn’t have any issues passing him through the wire.

In the NHL, Hunt has only played for Minnesota. The Wild selected him with the 65th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Since becoming a full-time professional player for the 2022-23 season, most of Hunt’s professional career has been spent in the Wild organization.

Early into the 2024-25 season, Minnesota traded Hunt to the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the package for David Jiříček. During his tenure with the Blue Jackets organization, he played only for the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, scoring two goals and 14 points in 48 games with a -8 rating. He re-signed with Columbus the following offseason, but the Wild claimed him off waivers before the regular season.

In a similar role, Hunt spent the entire 2025-26 season with Minnesota. He finished the campaign with six assists in 32 games with a -3 rating, averaging 12:26 of ice time per game. This year, Hunt has been held scoreless in 11 contests, while averaging 14:08 of ice time per night. If he is assigned to AHL Iowa after clearing waivers, it’ll be his first AHL appearance since the 2024-25 season.
