On Wednesday, the Minnesota Wild announced that the team has placed forward Michael Milne on waivers for the purpose of sending him down to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild.

Milne has yet to see any game action this season. He started the 2025-26 campaign on Minnesota’s opening-night roster, though he was listed as non-rostered/injured list. Per reports, he had been out of action due to an undisclosed injury.

The 23-year-old will head to Iowa, where he spent just about the entirety of his professional career. Milne was taken by the Wild in the third round, 89th overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft. He immediately turned pro and has been a stable scoring presence on a fairly inconsistent team in Des Moines. Last season, he posted career highs in goals (15) and points (26) in 60 games, though Iowa ended up missing the Calder Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row.

Milne did make his NHL debut last season, jumping in the lineup for Minnesota’s game against the Dallas Stars on Nov. 16, 2024. He didn’t register a point in 6:34 of ice time.

In 157 career appearances in the AHL, both regular-season and playoffs, Milne has posted 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 points.

Iowa (2-4-0-1) is scheduled to host the Tucson Roadrunners, the Utah Mammoth’s top farm team, this weekend. Fresh off losing to the Winnipeg Jets in overtime on Tuesday, Minnesota (3-5-3) will be hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Trent Miner was the only player placed on waivers on Tuesday. He cleared and is eligible to be assigned to the Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche’s primary affiliate.
