And now, the Toronto media is starting to get bold with it.
A recent Editor in Leaf article openly urged the Maple Leafs to swing big and make a trade for Robertson, pointing to his consistency, health, and playoff production as the missing piece in Toronto's lineup.
While it's flattering that other markets are recognizing what Robertson brings, let's get one thing clear: the Stars aren't exactly holding a garage sale.
In another article, the author cites Dan Rosen of NHL.com, who recently said the chances of a trade are "50-50." But internally, that's not how things feel in Dallas.
Robertson has averaged over a point per game since becoming a full-time NHLer.
He's played all 82 games in each of the past three seasons.
And he's delivered 44 points in 56 career playoff games, helping lead the Stars to three consecutive deep playoff runs.
This isn't just a reliable top-six winger.
This is a franchise player.
"If the Stars were ever to move Robertson, the return would need to reflect the fact that he's still only 26 and entering his prime, one league scout told The Athletic last month. You're talking first-round picks, top prospects, and NHL-ready talent."
That's a steep price, and it should be.
Sure, Toronto fans may dream about a Robertson-Matthews combo or the storyline of uniting Jason with his brother Nick Robertson, but Dallas isn't operating from desperation.
Jim Nill has built this team carefully, locking in core pieces like Miro Heiskanen, Roope Hintz, and Jake Oettinger. Robertson is part of that vision.
Yes, he'll command a raise.
Yes, the Stars have salary cap challenges.
But there's time. And there's no indication that Dallas is shopping him or ready to fold under pressure.
Personally, I don't think there's any rush to make a decision on Robertson. The front office knows his value, and so does every opponent who gameplans against him.
Until that changes, Leafs fans will just have to keep dreaming.
