It appears that Zach Hyman will not play in Game 5 vs. the Stars, and he is also likely done for the rest of Round 3, per NHL insider Jason Gregor.
The Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of advancing to their second straight appearance in the Stanley Cup Final, without their star player.
Oilers forward Zach Hyman left Game 4 in the first period with an injury and did not return, and NHL insider Jason Gregor has revealed that he will be out for Game 5, and likely the rest of the third round too.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch was not able to give an immediate update following their win, but there may be some concern growing around the team, and it is expected he will speak later today with an official update.
Hyman left yesterday's Game 4 win halfway through the first period with an apparent upper-body injury, and he did not return.
He left the ice while favoring his right shoulder/upper arm area after an awkward neutral zone collision with Dallas winger Mason Marchment. He went to the locker room shortly thereafter and wasn't seen again until after the game ended.
Now in his fourth playoff run with Edmonton, Hyman has again been a first or second-line constant, although his linemates have continued to be swapped.
He's recently settled in on the top line alongside Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, which has been the best line of the West Final so far.
At 5-on-5, the trio has outscored the Stars 3-0 while outshooting them 20-8, and even outchancing them 19-9.
