Finland unveils women’s roster for 2026 Winter Olympics

Finland unveiled its women’s hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics on Friday, with several PWHL athletes earning a spot.

Boston Fleet forward Susanna Tapani, Vancouver Goldeneyes’ forward Michelle Karvinen, Ottawa Charge defender Ronja Savolainen and goaltender San Ahola have been named to the team.

Tapani, 32, has two goals and three assists for five points in eight games this season. Now in her third PWHL season, the Turku native has 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 64 career regular-season games.

Meanwhile, Savolainen has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 37 career PWHL games. Her teammate, Ahola, gave up three goals and made 20 saves in her only appearance. In five NCAA seasons with St. Cloud State University, she went 35-43-5 with a .917 save percentage (SV%) and 2.61 goals against average (GAA).

As for Karvinen, the PWHL rookie has two assists in seven games.

Noora Tulus, who currently plays with Brynas IF in the Swedish league and has 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 27 games, recorded one goal and assist for two points in 30 games with the New York Sirens in 2024-25.

Finland has won the bronze medal in women’s hockey four times: 1998, 2010, 2018 and 2022. Beyond Canada and the U.S., they have won the most Olympic medals.

Team Finland’s schedule for the group stage games is as follows:

  • Thursday, Feb. 5 vs. Canada – 3:10 p.m. ET
  • Saturday, Feb. 7 at U.S. – 10:40 a.m. ET
  • Sunday, Feb. 8 at Czechia – 3:10 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday, Feb. 10 vs. Switzerland – 3:10 p.m. ET
