Zandee-Hart, 28, is in the final year of a three-year contract signed ahead of the 2023-24 season.
“New York and New Jersey have become a second home for me,” Zandee-Hart said in a team statement. “I’m proud to be a Siren and I’m determined to make this fanbase just as proud. It means the world to me that this organization wants me to be a part of what we’re building here.”
The Saanichton, B.C., native has played in 49 career games with the Sirens, recording one goal and 12 assists for 13 points. Her 10 points in 2024-25 was tied for 10th among PWHL defenders.
Ahead of the league’s inaugural season, New York named her the first captain in franchise history.
“From day one, Micah has been a model of what it means to lead,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “Recognized by her teammates, respected throughout the organization, and fully aligned with our core values of respect, family, loyalty, and excellence. Through her leadership, character, talent, and tireless work ethic – often away from the spotlight – she consistently puts our team, our culture, and our family before herself.
“She is the definition of an exemplary captain,” Daoust added.
Internationally, Zandee-Hart won a gold medal with the Canadian National Team at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. She also has both a gold and silver medal at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, respectively, along with a bronze from the 2019 World Championships.
She played four seasons of college hockey at Cornell University, where she scored 17 goals, 70 assists and 87 points in 124 games. She served as captain in her senior season in 2019-20.
