Top Three Moments of 2025–26: Vancouver Goldeneyes

The Vancouver Goldeneyes became the first team in the PWHL to be the primary tenant in their home venue. While they struggled for much of the season, their success picked up toward the end, culminating in securing the first overall draft pick in the 2026 draft (who ended up being Caroline Harvey).

Three significant moments in particular stand out from Vancouver’s 2025–26 season.

Moment #3: Securing first place in the Gold Plan

The team’s leading scorer, Sophie Jaques, once again put the team on her back. On April 25, 2026, Jaques sniped the overtime game-winning goal to secure two more Gold Plan points, ultimately ensuring the Goldeneyes earned the first overall draft pick.

Moment #2: Jenn Gardiner’s quack-trick

On April 18, 2026, Jenn Gardiner made history by becoming the first PWHL player to score four goals in a single game. In a wild back-and-forth contest against the Seattle Torrent, the Goldeneyes emerged victorious in overtime thanks to Gardiner’s fourth goal of the game. The fans playfully dubbed this four-goal feat a “quack-trick.”

Moment #1: Inaugural home-opener

The two PWHL expansion teams debuted in front of a sold-out crowd. This was a total of 14,958 fans on November 21, 2025, in Vancouver. Sarah Nurse, one of Vancouver’s marquee signings, scored the first goal in Goldeneyes history. With just over two minutes left in the game, Vancouver managed to tie the score thanks to Claire Thompson. In overtime, Abby Boreen potted the goal that gave the Goldeneyes their first win in team history.
