The Oklahoma City Thunder have lost five games this season. Three of those games have been against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
Mark Daigneault's team has hit a bit of a tough stretch lately, and the losses against the Spurs haven't been that close, either.
That's why, following yet another big-time win over the defending champions, Wembanyama acknowledged that the Spurs now have a tactical edge over them, although he didn't want to share any details.
"This is like a playoff series. We learned a lot on the tactical side," Wembanyama said, per Jordan Davis of The Oklahoman. "I don't want to say too much about it. Keep something for us."
Of course, having arguably the only player on Earth who can match up with Chet Holmgren surely helps, but the Spurs have been much more than just a one-man show.
De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle complement one another perfectly in the back court, and Dylan Harper looks like a veteran among rookies.
Other key role players, such as Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson, are also playing hard on both ends of the floor and matching up well with the Thunder's plethora of switchable defenders.
It's still way too early in the season, and no one wins an NBA championship in late December. But even though there's plenty of basketball to be played, the Spurs must love their chances against the defending champions right now.
