Five candidates to be next Eagles offensive coordinator

As expected, the Philadelphia Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo on Tuesday after a disappointing season and a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round. Here are five OC candidates Eagles general manager Howie Roseman should call right now.

Brian Daboll

If you asked Jalen Hurts, Daboll would probably be at the top of his list for the next offensive coordinator in Philadelphia. Daboll was Alabama's play-caller when Hurts and WR DeVonta Smith helped lead the Crimson Tide to a national championship, so the familiarity is there.

Daboll didn't work out as a head coach for the New York Giants, but he led the Buffalo Bills to the No. 1 scoring offense in the NFL the last time he worked as an offensive coordinator.

Mike McDaniel

The Eagles need to get back to the dominant rushing team they were in 2024, and McDaniel is the perfect candidate to bring that toughness and swagger back to the run game. McDaniel was the run-game coordinator for the 49ers and HC Kyle Shanahan before taking over as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

The bright offensive coach would bring a level of creativity and explosiveness to the offense that Patullo failed to unlock.

Kliff Kingsbury

Kingsbury has plenty of experience crafting offensive schemes for mobile quarterbacks, as he's worked with quarterbacks Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels over the past few years.

Kingsbury, the Commanders OC for the past two seasons, would be a risky hire because he's always searching for a better job. But there's no doubt he's an innovative play-caller and a huge upgrade from Patullo.

Kevin Stefanski

The Eagles should be on the lookout for a candidate who will want to stay in town for a few years. Hurts has gone through nine different play-callers in the past 10 years, so building some consistency with a steady offensive coordinator would be the best path forward.

Enter Stefanski, who grew up in the Philadelphia area and played college football at Penn. The former Cleveland Browns head coach could follow the Vic Fangio blueprint and return to Philly to coach his hometown team.

Todd Monkon

Lamar Jackson won an MVP award and had the two best passing seasons of his career in three seasons under Monkon in Baltimore. The veteran offensive coordinator is an enticing candidate for Roseman, who will surely prioritize experience and past success.
