The Denver Broncos' road to the Super Bowl got significantly tougher on Sunday evening when it was announced that QB Bo Nix suffered a broken bone in his ankle in Denver's 33-30 divisional-round win over the Buffalo Bills.
That puts backup QB Jarrett Stidham in the spotlight going into next week's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots in Denver.
Stidham will be tasked with leading Denver to its first Super Bowl since Super Bowl 50, in which the Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers.
Former NFL QB Nick Foles knows a things or two about leading a Cinderella playoff run as a backup QB.
During the 2017-18 season, it was Foles who led the Philadelphia Eagles on an incredible Super Bowl run after star QB Carson Wentz tore his ACL in December 2017. Foles capped a legendary playoff run by leading the Eagles to a 41-33 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
On Sunday, Foles offered some lighthearted positivity to Denver's fan base after Nix's unfortunate injury.
"Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours," Foles said in a social media post. "I feel for Bo and the team, and I'm sending prayers for a strong recovery. A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games."

Only time will tell whether or not Stidham can lead a Foles-esque championship run for Denver this season, but if the Broncos' new starting QB is nervous, Foles might be a worthy mentor to reach out to.
