Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett was already a thorn in the side of the Boston Bruins in their second-round playoff series for a controversial play in Game 3 that sidelined Brad Marchand.
The NHL's decision to not suspend him played a big role in Game 4 on Sunday night.
Bennett tied the game with a power-play goal in the third period that came with a lot of controversy due to some physical play around the net.
Just before Bennett put the puck into the back of the net, he cross-checked Bruins center Charlie Coyle into Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, giving him an empty net to score.
The Bruins immediately challenged for goaltending interference, but lost that challenge on review, resulting in a two-minute delay of game penalty and another power play for the Panthers. Just a couple of minutes later, Aleksander Barkov scored to give the Panthers their first lead of the game.
Here is a look at the controversial Bennett goal.

There is a lot happening there. For one, that absolutely could have been interference on Bennett as his hit on Coyle is what forced Coyle to fall into Swayman.
But even if you do not want to call that, there is at least a cross-check there by Bennett that went uncalled.
None of it went the Bruins' way.
