Report: Cavaliers won't play Andre Drummond amid trade discussions

The Cleveland Cavaliers are ready to move on from All-Star center Andre Drummond. 

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst, Drummond won't play any more games for the Cavaliers as they work to try to trade him before the March 25 deadline. Cleveland is opting to make Jarrett Allen the franchise's long-term starting center, ESPN adds, and believes it's unfair to limit Drummond's minutes. 

Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman discussed the move with Drummond and his agent and mutually decided that the 27-year-old would no longer be active for games.

Drummond didn't dress for the Cavs' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday and arrived at the game wearing a sweatshirt that read "farewell."

The New York native is playing on a $28.7 million expiring contract. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Toronto Raptors are engaged in discussions with the Cavaliers regarding Drummond. 

In 25 games this season, he is averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 47.4% from the field.
