Four-star WR Somourian Wingo locks in with Miami over Florida and South Carolina

Wide receiver Somourian Wingo from St. Augustine, Florida, had his options. In fact, he had well over 30 offers from all over the country.

Ultimately, though, Wingo's recruitment came down to three schools: Miami, Florida and South Carolina.

All three programs got official visits, as did the Alabama Crimson Tide, but this is another recruiting battle that Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes won.

Wingo announced his commitment to Miami on Thursday, and it was the relationships in the building that played the biggest factor for him.

“The No. 1 biggest thing I love about Miami are the people,” Wingo told Chad Simmons of Rivals. “I love everyone there and I built a relationship with everyone from the staff to the players and assistants at Miami. I love the culture too. That was another reason why I chose Miami. How everything is operated at Miami is something I really like too. Then it is the city … I love that too. Who doesn’t?”

Miami offered Wingo the full package, and there was likely some NIL money thrown on top of everything as well. Speaking of, Wingo profiles as a wide receiver who could end up being the full package for the Hurricanes.

He already checks in at 6-foot-2, 160 pounds, and according to his 247Sports scouting report, he's a "well-rounded wide receiver prospect that pairs above-the-rim athleticism with slick route running and sticky hands."

Wingo caught 65 passes for 1,040 yards (16.8 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns as a junior for St. Augustine High School. He's ranked as the No. 23 wideout in the country, according to 247Sports.

Wingo is Miami's 21st commitment to a class that's ranked No. 10 in the country. He also doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

"I am locked in with Miami," he said.
