Why 4-star Jordan Deck flipped his commitment from Baylor to Michigan

Jordan Deck was not committed to the Baylor Bears for long. In fact, his commitment to Dave Aranda and his program lasted less than a month.

Deck flipped his commitment from Baylor to Michigan on Wednesday, and he explained to Chad Simmons of Rivals/On3 that this was basically something that was always in the making.

Even when he committed to Baylor, there was something about Michigan that just stuck with him. He even admitted that he may have rushed into his initial decision to commit.

“Michigan is honestly always where I wanted to be,” Deck told Simmons and Rivals. “When I was on my official visit, it felt right. Baylor is a great school, but I rushed my decision a little when I committed. After thinking about it, I knew Michigan was where I wanted to be.”

From Frisco, Texas, Deck is ranked as the No. 37 safety in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He credited Michigan defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan as one of the main reasons he felt comfortable with the Wolverines.

“Coach Morgan has been great. He has recruited me as hard as anyone and he stayed with me through and through," Deck said. "When I was on my visit, he showed me his plan for me and how I can play all over the secondary for Michigan. He talked with me about the good and the bad and how he can make me better. How coach Morgan recruited me and how he coaches really helped with my decision.”

As a junior at Lone Star High School, Deck notched 42 tackles, one sack and 12 pass breakups. He's Michigan's 21st 2026 commitment. Head coach Sherrone Moore's class is currently ranked No. 9 nationally.
