Chelsea fans are beginning to feel the nerves when it comes to Mason Mount's future at the club, but on the opposite end of the spectrum are the Liverpool fans who might just begin to feel some excitement.

Mount has yet to sign a new deal at Chelsea and talks still remain at a standstill as the window draws that bit closer. Chelsea want to keep Mount but there are disagreements in negotiations that have not been overcome at this stage.

Liverpool's interest is real, and they are not going away.

As reported by Dominick King of the Daily Mail, Liverpool still have Mason Mount as a prime target this summer and he is expected to be signed alongside and not instead of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool are very advanced on an agreement to sign Alexis Mac Allister but that will not burden their approach for Mason Mount.

The goal at Liverpool this summer when they pulled out of the race for Jude Bellingham was always to bring in at least three midfielders, and Mount is the main name on that list.

Mac Allister and Mount are both expected to be the workmanlike eights in the Liverpool 4-3-3, so the expectation is that the next profile will be a defensive midfield target.

Romeo Lavia has been linked to Liverpool and the interest is real, but the club have also looked at Khephren Thuram from Nice, Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP and Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach.
