Patriots LB 'excited' to face Aaron Rodgers twice a season

New England Patriots linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley is among the AFC East players hyped to face New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers multiple times this season.

"Aaron Rodgers is definitely a fantastic quarterback, for sure," Bentley explained, per Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. "He’s definitely going to add some things to the Jets as far as their offense is concerned. Hands down, it’s going to be a hell of an opportunity for us to go against him twice a year. But if you ask us, we’re excited about the opportunity. We have no choice but to be excited about it."

Members of the Jets such as wide receiver and 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson aren't shying away from admitting they understand the 2023 edition of Gang Green is expected to do more than just qualify for the playoffs now that Rodgers is atop the depth chart at the sport's most important position.

As of Wednesday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Jets as second among the betting favorites to win the division title at +250. The Buffalo Bills were the favorites at +135, while the Miami Dolphins were at +320. The Patriots were distant underdogs at +1000.

Dolphins edge-rusher Bradley Chubb noted last month that he was "excited" for the "opportunity to play against one of the best quarterbacks that ever played the game" twice during the season. Bentley echoed Chubb's take.

"You’re always excited to see the different moves teams make. Just adds competition around the league," Bentley remarked. "I thrive off competition in general. So especially in our division, seeing the different moves teams make, it always gets you excited about what’s to come."

The Jets are largely all smiles and happy now that Rodgers is working out with his new teammates. Opponents such as Bentley shouldn't struggle to find bulletin-board material for games against the Rodgers-led Jets considering all that's being said and written about New York since acquiring the four-time MVP.
